Food For Thought

There are a lot of things to stress about these days, so finding a safe and healthy way to relax is essential. If you haven’t found a good way to relax, meditation may be just the thing you’re looking for. It’s healthy, safe, and also affordable. In fact it’s free!
Meditation has shown to provide several benefits, including  increased energy, improved quality of sleep, decreased anxiety, improved concentration, increased alertness, and heightened immunity—just to name a few.
How to Start
Meditating is actually easier than you might imagine, as there is really no right or wrong behavior during your meditation. It is your time for you. You can start by paying attention to your breathing. Take deep, slow breaths and try to clear your mind of all thoughts and worries. Begin by breathing in through your nose and exhaling out through your mouth.  The practical effort to focus completely on your breathing helps to take your mind away from the "mind clutter" that can lead to constant stress.

Of course, there are several books, classes, and resources dedicated to meditation. So, if you want to get more serious and involved with mediation, hit your local bookstore or Internet search engine. Good luck and happy meditating!

“When the breath wanders the mind also is unsteady.  But when the breath is calmed the mind too will be still, and the yogi achieves long life.  Therefore, one should learn to control the breath.”
